Welcome to Fifth Grade!

Welcome to Penns Valley Intermediate and Fifth Grade! I am excited for an awesome school year with your students! Our focus will continue to be on being Ready, Responsible and Respectful. There are also high expectations for academics and being organized will definitely help your student be successful. In English Language Arts (ELA), students will be analyzing various texts and using strategies to help them become better readers and writers. In Math, students will be applying foundational skills learned throughout their elementary career as well as learning new skills to prepare them for more advanced math. Fifth graders will also rotate with their homerooms every two to three weeks to receive instruction in science, social studies, grammar, math, and writing. I am here to help your student grow as both a learner and a citizen!

I am a PA native, born and raised in Williamsport. I graduated from Lock Haven University with a degree in Elementary Education in 2003 and moved to Maryland to teach in Prince George's County, just north of Washington, DC and taught there for thirteen years. While teaching, I obtained my Master's degree in Leadership with an emphasis in TESOL from University of Notre Dame of Baltimore. I moved to Anne Arundel County Public Schools three years ago and taught just south of Baltimore. The majority of my family still lives in this area so the decision to come back was an easy one!
